I have a 1993 Catalina 30 and need some cleaning/waxing information.
The boat was compounded and waxed last year. This year it is lightly oxidized.
It is a blue gel coat haul. What is the best way to clean/wax this year. It had been
mentioned to use 3 M Sharp Shooter and a good wax. Any thoughts would be
greatly appreciated

I know I'm offering only a question here but it may be helpful - did Catalina ever build hulls with colored gel?

I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that you may in fact have a painted top sides which bears on the correct answer you are looking for as the care of paint is different than colored gel coat.

There is no paint involved and the hull is blue. I am looking to restore the beautiful
blue hull with a nice polish shine. No paint on my boat. :)

If it is blue gelcoat, Presta Cutting Creme will remove light oxidation and reduce down to a fine shine. You need a good constant speed buffer, the proper wool buffer pad, and water mister to keep the gelcoat lubricated. You should have your complete shine prior to waxing. Collinite. Search for "Musings with Maine Sail" he has the definitive treatise on the process. Good luck.
