Hi. I'm just about to finalize my order for a new 343. The only thing I can't decide is blue hull or not. I think it looks GREAT (there's a 423 here with a blue hull, amazing) but my concern is that it's going to fade and over time I'm going to end up with a not-very-nice powder blue hull after a few years. Does anyone know how well the blue hull holds its color and how much work is required to keep it looking nice (uv polish etc). If it's going to fade badly and lose that amazing blue look, I'll stick to white, won't look as good starting off, but won't fade.

Rols, I have seen some older boats with the blue ( not Beneteau) that still look good. One interesting point. I surveyed a boat not to long a go with a blue hull but it had a number of what looked like small chips out in it and you could see the white underneath. I asked the owner about it and was told that when the swans in the area saw their reflection in the hull, they would peck at it and they caused the damage. Just some food for thought Charlie

My first new, "new" boat had a yellow hull. I really loved that yellow color! Over the years and several wax jobs, the yellow started fading to white. Also the yellow dulled up and showed, so that a wax job was almost mandatory to keep respect in the neighborhood. hehe So my advise is that if you like that blue hull, get it. But, be prepared to work a little harder to keep it looking as good as the day you buy it.

Reflected heat!!

My last boat had a dark blue hull. It collected whatever dirt was blowing by that day. Cleaning was a by-product of a good looker. The other consideration is reflected heat. In the northern climates, it is a welcome addition to the cabins in the spring and autumn. Singapore lies sufficiently south that you may want to consider a color that reflects the heat, not absorb it. Jim
