I have had a Xantrex TC20+ on my boat since 2005. It has worked flawlessly and the remote panel lets me know when it is charging and the state of battery charge, but only when plugged into the shore A/C. For the first time, I ran an equilization cycle on my batteries according to the owner's manual. I only had four hours so I disconnected all loads to the battery bank and ran the equalization. All went according to the instructions and the batteries sat at 15+ volts for the four hours. I have a separate analog voltage meter that lets me monitor the batteries on or off shore power. The LED displays on the remote panel read full voltage since the top LED light is for 14+V. Soon after I terminated the equlaization, one of the two LED battery voltage indicators on the panel went totally dead - perhaps a victim of the high voltage. Xantrex warns in it's manual that all loads on the battery should be disconnected in case that the higher voltage might damage some of the equipment on the boat. I guess this includes their own remote panel. The charger and one half of the remote panel continues to work.
