Took a friend sailing last week (he owns a Catalina but I still sail with him) and he asked me if I turned on the blower before starting the engine. I got a twisted look on my face and realized I never noticed the lack of a blower before. We're got a blower on our powerboat but nothing on our 1978 Hunter 30. Odd? Is it just that much older of a boat that they didn't bother? Unrelated "issue": The counter above our refrigerator (Adler Barber) collects enough condensation to form a puddle in the back corner. Is this normal? It has been humid so that probably adds to it. Is there an insulation issue perhaps? Has anyone else experienced this? Finally: Had a wonderful three hour sail this past weekend. Broad reach up and back. Hit 5.6 with the 120 genoa only. Boat steered herself.

gas or diesel?

If you have a diesel engine you don't need a blower. If you have gas, you absolutely should have one.

Blower Diesel vs Gas

My hunter 36 new has a blower and it had a diesel. It is used to get that engine smell out of the compartment. On gas engines, it is a must to prevent gas fumes from creating a boom- fire.
