I know this type of question alls cause fights but I would like to know what people think about this boat and how far from home they would take her. Based on design not upgrades.

Very well..

Very well built and designed boat. She's very, very similar in under body to the Hinckley Bermuda 40 which Bill Tripp also designed. Provided she's in good shape that's a go anywhere type of vessel..

Pretty

Yawl. She has real pretty lines and looks beautiful, a real classic. The wood looks to be well cared for. I suspect she is pretty fast also.

My persoanl preference would be for a Ketch Rig with Cutter set up also if I were to get rid of my sloop, but that's my personal preference. I would go as far as I could go without running out of food and water. Long as I had something to eat and drink, I would be happy. I suspect you must be thinking of buying her, or you wouldn't be asking, hmmmm?

I found another for half the money

I have actually found the same boat but 1978 for half the money. She has been cared for as well if not better. I am looking for my next boat that I can have for years to come and take her anywhere.

These boats are great

...cruiser/racers (not the other way around....) that won a lot of Newport to Bermuda races in the 1960's. They are classics for that period of boat design. A Block Island 40, in good condition, ought to be a "go anywhere" boat as long as the place you are going isn't upwind and/or you are not in a hurry to get there. But more importantly, they were designed by a great NA and they are gorgeous!
