I have a '97 Hunter 310 purchased in March of '99. It has developed blisters. (count 130). This is covered under warranty and Hunter has said they will cover this during a regular haul out and bottom paint job. Does anyone have any experience with Hunter on this issue. Waine

I only found one instance of a boat making a warranty claim for blisters in the past 1-1/2 years. While there may vertainly be owners who have experienced and have not written about it, I believe it's pretty rare. Let us know how the repair and the warranty interaction goes for you. ph.

No Problem

Email Hunter via their email address on this web site or Greg Emerson [huntermarine@worldnet.att.net]. I'm sure that you will get an immediate reply and probably the one that you want. They really have provided great support for other problems.

Warranty on Blisters

Contact the dealer that you purchased the boat from and tell him about the blisters. When you pull the boat to fix the blisters, they will have you take pictures of the blisters. The dealer will pay for the blisters to be fixed, but not the pulling of the boat. You have up to 5 years to take care of the problem. Beyound that, they are your problem. Unless the boat is brand new or there is a very large number of large blisters, fix them at the time of the next bottom job.

Got covered

I had some minor blistering just at year five. Pictures and working with the dealer that sold me the boat, I was able to get the blister repair covered. Hunter was very fair about the whole deal. Thats another reason why your next boat should be a Hunter!

May not cover owner #2

Wayne, I just re-read your article. It was a '97 boat and you bought it in '99? The warranty is a factory warranty that is for the original owner only (as I recall). So you may have some trouble.

Hunter Stands By Warranty

Worked with Greg Emerson at Hunter after buying a 1994 33.5 in 1998. Survey discovered six small blister but we were not ready for a bottom job. I asked Hunter to honor warranty when we planned to haul out a year later and they did. Not bad service and warranty coverage if you ask me.
