I'm just wondering if there are any 1979 O'day 28 owners out there who have had any blister problems? That is to say has this been a problem for that year or model?
Tom:I doubt that there has been a mfg. that has not had blister problems. I have seen Swans with them, Hunters, Catalinas, Ericsons, Islands, Odays, Beneteaus.....New ones get them and old ones get them.
built boats have had more problems with blisters than earlier years and recent years. The boats built before the 70's oil crisis seem to have fewer blisters. Something to do with the petroleum based resins. Most manufacturers in recent years have been using vinylester resins that are less blister prone.
See David Pascoe's website for info on blisters.www.yachtsurvey.com (link below). Its interesting in his article about "Buying a boat with blisters", he basically says "good luck finding" an older boat that does not have any. Anyway, lots of great info on his site.
