We have owned our '95 H26 for 3 years, now, and have never resolved the question of what to do for curtains or blinds on the side lights (windows). My wife saw some blinds that pull up from the bottom on a H 280 that she liked. I like the snap tape type of curtain that attaches top and bottom that is sold by West Marine. Any experience out there? Nights in the marina need privacy! Ned Christensen Second Wind

sliding drapes

We attached plastic strips to the boat and had corresponding sliding grips attached to the fabric. I lined the fabric to keep the fabric from deteriorating in the sun and for added privacy. The whole project, fabric, strips, sliders, was probably about $200. Of course I replaced the original curtain to match and used the hardware from the original curtain. For the port openings, I cut very thin, flexible, opaque white plastic to fit the inside of the window and used tiny velcro patches in the corners to hold the window covers in place. Good luck. Save $

Save the bucks. Don't be so modest. Like I always say: Don't worry about what people think about you. They don't! Same holds true in vision. Besides, you may turn up on candid camera!

Curtains

On my H260, I used clear double sided tape, and some shear curtains. The tape is easy to remove if necessary, and the shears provide both light and privacy, and can be cut to lenght. Total cost $20 dollars. P.S. I stay on my boat quite a bit, so privacy is a concern, and the shears work well. Dan S/V Unruly Julie

drapes, nice, cheap

We found some nice, denim blue drapes (actually valances) at a chain store (like Bed, Bath or something), and got curtain rods at Kmart. Then we put suction cup hooks up on either side of the port lights and ran the curtain rods between them. One for the port side, two for starboard. A little super glue on the suction cups keeps them in place. Run the rods thru the curtains and they open and close easily. Total cost about $30 for the valances, $5 for the curtain rods and $2 for the suction cups and glue.

Blinds

Lowes,Home Depot, etc will cut blinds to size.Did this several years ago on a 78 H25 using the cheap plastic blinds.

Money is no object!

Money is not the important issue. In the rough stuff, while you are trying to maintain calm, your blinds will rattle. They might even bag around some. Curtains are usually much quiter, which helps everyone remain calm.
