Which of the three screws about the secondary Yanmar fuel filter is the bleed screw? I read it can take several minutes to bleed the line, have you found this to be the case.

Canister fuel filter on our 4JH2-TE is mounted right by the lift pump, which has a manual lever that is used to fill the lines and filter after changing. Engine always fires right up. Never have or unaware of bleed screws on the filter. Injectors/rack, yes, but never bled those either. Do you have issues with the engine starting after a filter change?

Yes, the engine was running just fine. Changed the primary and now it won't start. We have pump the fuel through, saw air bubbles waited until all fuel, then tried to start. It won't kick over.

Here is a picture of the fuel filter and according to the diagram, where the bleed screw should be. Don't know which one to bleed. Situated at the top of the secondary filter.

Changed the primary and now it won't start.
Two possibilities (that have happened to friends):

1. Bad new filter - my friend found that the edge of the filter had been dinged just enough to throw off the proper seal at the O ring.

2. Leaky seal on the vent screw or loose vent screw on the top of the Racor housing (if you've got the "normal" 24 type filter & housing).

Of course, using a new O ring (that came with the filter) and "greasing" it first also helps "make" the seal.

Also, sometimes the secondary filter needs to be bled even if just changing the primary.

Good luck.
