has anyone figured out how to eliminate the annoying black streaks on white fiber glass?

Streak removal

West Marine and others market a product called Black Streak remover. Works great unless you have Vertglas or Polyglow (it desolves acrylic finishes) They also sell a cleaning product called "Roll Off" (my Searay friends use it) that works good Barry

streaking

Bob; West Marine Boat Soap, used full strength on a damp sponge, works if the streaks are not too deep. I've also had good results with a strong solution of Oxy-Clean.

There's no good way

All the chemical cleaners will work, but normally remove wax. The bad black streaks come from rain runoff and seem to occur in the same place. I use 3-M cleaner wax, followed by Collinite Fleet wax. A light application of boat soap or cleaner wax (if worse) then removes them easily. When the black stain is in the wax, rather than gelcoat, it's easier to remove.

Island Girl Pink

IG pink finally took the black streaks off by the ports, have had it for years. After you use this, you can decide what coating/sealant to use, but it did take it off!

Preventing Black Streaks

thanks for the removal tips. How about prevention? even a thin coat of 3M wax seems to attract the streaks. i have tried 303 and other waxes too but no luck. regular washing keeps the streaks down, but they remain.

Yep

I just glued some 1/2" quadrant teak moulding on the underside of my rubbing strakes immediately below the scuppers. It needed two lengths on each side, each about 8" long. I Used contact adhesive. These are almost invisible when fitted but everyone who does notice them asks what they are for. My boat has the large square grey PVC moulded strake. Now the water which trickles off the deck also drips off the sharp underside edge of the wood and doesn't run down the hull.
