The gas tank compartment in the cockpit of my Catalina 25 has a blackish type of grime around the compartment seams.. I've heard this is common on this model.. My question is, what is the best product to clean this with... Normal soap and scrub brush doesn't seem to work well.

I have the same problem here in Houston area. I used some Clorox Clean and power washer which did help, but not totally. I didn't have this problem in Oklahoma, so I wonder if high humidity has something.
Collinite products. There's a low abrasive cleaner, use compounding if you eed to, then their wax in the big round tub.
