Once I saw the parts it all made perfect sense, but when I pre read
them I notice there is a small communication gap between the UK
dialect and the US dialect. If you are considering the combi re-
build or the Beta installation, here are some translations that may
help.When you see "Whitworth Spanner" You can substitute an adjustable
wrench. Evidently wrenches in Britian are Spanners.
Whitworth is actually a size standard that is neither Metric nor
SAE.
Whitworth...takes its name from a brilliant British engineer.An
early attempt to standardise threads and spanner sizes.The size of a
whitworth spanner refers to the thread not the measurement of the
bolt head.Phased out in the 60's officially no longer used after
1965,but some manufacturers carried on using it on some applications
much later than this.If you are a classic car enthusiast you'll come
across Whitorth sooner or later..The thread is coarser than....
For example When Steve says 5/8 whithworth spanner don't look for
something 5/8" You'll use a 3/4" SAE Wrench. 3/4" whitworth is
5/16" SAE. if you use an adjustable wrench like a crescent wrench
all will be well. "Jubilee clips", are pipe clamps. It's just a specific Brand of
High Quality worm drive hose clamp. ( I don't think this brand is
commonly found in the US.)
When he says "deliver fulsome blows to the prop boss" Hit it firmly
with something heavy, I used a Wood Block.
