Its good stuff, if you can find it
Sophie,Biodiesel is becoming increasingly available. In major metro areas it tend to be available more easily than in the country, but you can find it if you look hard enough. The trick is to make sure that the supplier you are using is selling stuff that is mechanically equivilant to diesel. There are several products out there that will run in older, simpler engines, but will damage modern engines. All of the products are made from oils derived from grains. The damaging fuels are essentially nothing more than well filtered. They have the appropriate engergy potential, but not the lubricative value you need to be safe. The good fuels are nore refined and have stabilizers to maintain lubrication and protect your engine.I like the idea of biodiesel because I support the use of renewable energy but am realistic about the chance of people doing major conversions to the their engines. Biodiesel can be used in any diesel when available, and std dino-fuel can be put in on top of it when necessary.I know several people in New Jersey who use biodiesel in their cars. I will try to see if they know of any suppliers in NY.There are also engine oils that are made from grain oils. I have heard of bio based two stroke oil but have not yet been able to locate any.check out http://pipeline.to/biodiesel/ for more info. Justin - O'day Owner's Web
