Hi everyone. My wife and I just purchased a 1992 Beneteau 310 in Toronto & are looking forward to sailing it this summer on Lake Ontario. The boat came with a few things to fix of course: the compass on the binnacle has a broken sun shield which we'd like to fix. I know someone who has a new Ritchie Explorer Surface Mount compass which measures 2 3/4" diameter. The entire unit with case has a diameter of 3 5/8". I don't have the boat accessible right now to measure... does anyone know offhand the size of the standard binnacle compass on a Beneteau 310?

If you know the make and model you could look it up on the manufacturer's web site. If you just know the man then look around on their site to see if you can id your model.

I replaced just the sun shield on mine. It's a shade different color since the color of the plastic of the compass had discolored in the sunlight. Very easy to replace just the sun shield, takes all of about five minutes. Can't remember where I ordered the part from but it was either Defender or the Beneteau USA part site. I would try to get the sun shield and just replace that and save all the work for a different project.
