I would appreciate any advice on getting a bimini for my 1979 Hunter 25. Where to order it from, size I might need, etc. Thank You.

Go to SailRite.com.....

and ask them to send you a catalog...then look on page 11. They make quality products. The catalog has pictures that are not on the web site..

I would measure the bearing points for the frame first of all. On an h25 I would want those points to be in the toe rail rather than in the glass. Then I would look at measurments that clear the boom, mainsheets, and backstay. Headroom measurments are next. No good having a bimini if you get a crick in your neck after sailing for two hours. If I had to open the bimini to accomodate the backstay, I would have no problem with that. All that said, a bimini looks like hell on an h25, acts like a brake in light wind, but increases your anchor-out living space be 60%. Ask me how I know. Also, my admiral loves it. Fair winds, Jim

I built my own based on an article in Cruising World magazine. Made it tall enough to stand under, runs from the boom aft, has a slit for the back stay and has one folding top ridge. It really increases the creature comforts on the boat I think!!

You can get a bimini to fit your hunter from Overton's item# 21847DS $ 251.99 you just need to pick a color - - - I like Picific Blue - - good match with the Hunter blue. Overton's # 1800-334-6541 Hope this helps.

Back Stay?

Paul, Thanks for the advice, I ordered the model bimini that you recommended. The only question I have is as to how you accommodated the Back Stay?
