Looking to place the Radar on it own Mast on the stern of the Boat. How would the Mast and Radar work with the Bimini? Has any others had issue with this. We have the 306/209.

I put mine on a pole on the stern

I have a H380 (1999) but I believe our sterns are much alike. I went through the agony of trying to decide what to do, put the radar array on the mast or on its own pole at the stern. I finally decided to put in on its own pole as I sailed another 380 which had the radar on the mast and the sail kept hanging up on the array. While that might not happen on all boats, I decided to put it on the stern. It doesn't get in the way of anything. Actually because the pole snugs right up against the seat, it is nice to put your arm around the pole when sailing. There were some other advantages that came to pass. Because I put the desplay on my arch, the wiring was simpler to achieve--the wires from the power souce (navigation locker) to the steering station and hense to the array on the pole. Also the pole is on a pivot (Thanks to Bob Knox for that advice) so if I need to service the array, I can lower the pole. I bought an Edson pole, but I think now that I would look around, Edson stuff is always expensive and I've heard that someone in Seattle area makes a good pole and it is much cheaper. Having your radar on a stern pole does not affect your Bimini (we call them rain flys out here in the northwest) nor does the mast hurt your display. I've also hooked the radar to the GPS and the autopilot so that they are talk to each other. As an afterthought, I also put a flag halyard on the pole and got the American Flag out of the way and up where it can be seen. The flag pole method was always in the way going on and off the boat from the stern. This works well for me. I hope this helps in your decision making. Someone who has their radar on the mast ought to give their view points.
