Recently purcased a 1993 23.5, and have been cleaning, fixing, and replacing for the past month. Advise from all of you have made my life much easier. One problem, I'm trying to remove what seems to be some type of velcro glue backing, from the deck. It's yellow, about 3" x 3/4" . I've tried simple green, acetone, oven cleaner, and nothing seems to remove it. A friend recommended "Goof Off". Can anyone offer suggestions?

Kerosene

Believe it or not, kerosene might do the trick. A little dab to get it moist and some elbow grease.

Lighter Fluid, or WD-40

Lighter Fluid, or WD-40 will work on alot of adhesives

When chemicals don't work

Try wet sanding the stain with 600 grit wet dry paper and water then wax area to seal it.

might try denatured alcohol

My wife even claims that cooking oil (vegetable?) works to remove old adhesive residue. YMMV. Tom

Acetone

Try acetone, it works. Use gloves. IF a small area, use finger nail remover since it is basically acetone. Crazy

Adhesive "debonder"

I bought some adhesive remover at West Marine to get the duct tape adhesive off of my boat. I cannot recall the specific product name, but it is made for use on gelcoat.

Try anitbond 2015..

this is the stuff that's supposed to be able to get 5200 off! If it will get 5200 off, it should be able to do the job for you.
