Hi all,

I hope you are having a great summer. This year I purchased a bimini top for a 260, stainless steel- standard pre cut. The purchase was made with this web site, " Sailbaot owners .com" The top was shipped from a company in Florida and appears to be of good quality. My question is as follows.

When installing the top prior to fastening it to the rail brackets it is roughly 8" wider than the span of the rails. It is fairly easily bent into compliance with the rail brackets but exerts enough pressure to sort of bow the brackets outward a bit. Is this normal?
The top was ordered as a standard size for the boat and must be correct; however seems to be a bit sung. Everything is working well with the top but the one stainless steel screw on the rail bracket got bound and we had one heck of a time getting it loose. does anybody know what size stainless screw this is, I do not want to remove it until I have a replacement. The screw is borderline stripped.

Thank you for any help.

Give Customer Service a Call

Hi Earl -

Sorry for any issues you are experiencing with the bimini. We have made many of the rail mount bimini's for the Hunter 260 over the years and haven't had any issues. It has been very popular.

It is not uncommon for the frame to bow a bit beyond the rail and to your point, it bends into compliance easily.

The only thing I can think of in terms of the clamps is that perhaps the clamp was tightened down too much before you put the frame in. The clamps needs to be installed loosely, then the frame is inserted into the clamp and the both are tightened - going back and forth between the two. This keeps the clamp for splaying.

We want to make sure we get this issue addressed. Give customer service a call at 877-932-7245. It sounds like we might need to send you new clamps and we are happy to do that.

Re: Give Customer Service a Call

Thank you for the response. As I previously stated the top is of good quality and the initial contact with your service rep, I think David was excellent. The only improvement could be the instructions they are very vague. You have given more information regarding installiation than the provided instruction sheet.
I will call service because the screw is i need of replacement. All else is well and I will deal with you guys in the future.
