Bimini top installation

I purchased a bimini top for my 86 H23. I got it from Ameriseam. The instruction were poor, and I had some questions. 1. Do you leave the bimini attached when folded while sailing? Or do you disconect it and place down below. 2. It comes with pop rivits to fasten the cross bars in place. How can I remove the bimini and place down below after riviting? If any one has a picture of there arrangement I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Dave

Just got one myself...

Dave, I have to agree with you - the bimini instructions were about the poorest I've ever seen. You'd think they could take 30 minutes and actually write something up, huh? I have a 26 and I leave my bimini on and folded up when I sail - haven't sailed with it opened up yet. If you want to be able to disconnect/stow the frame then you'll want to use machine screws instead of the pop rivets. Of course, the instructions aren't even nice enough to mention what size screw to use! I just used the rivets since I'll leave it on. A guy across from me has a 23 with a bimini and he leaves his on all the time too. Thankfully the installation wasn't too difficult, although I did spend a lot of time looking at other 26's and 260's nearby to figure out the strut placements and such before attempting it on my boat. Good luck! Dave Crowley Wind Dreamer
