Hi, As winter falls upon us here in Wisconsin, (ugh) I'm going to take the winter time to prepare to purchase new gear for my O'day 23 and one thing I'm wanting to get was a bimini top for the cockpit. Does anyone know of which one would work best for the O'day 23? Manufacturer etc? Dimensions as well? where do I get one reasonably priced? Would be highly interested in feedback on this. Mark

Have you tried Kendor on Ryan Rd south of Milwaukee. They stock (or make) biminis of all sizes. We actually built our own dodger (Sailrite kit) and bimini (Kendor frame modified to fit) for our 23.

Hi, No, didn't know of Kender in Milwaukee. I'll definitely check them out. They have a website I can look at at all? Sounds like what you have on your 23 is exactly what I'd like on mine before next sailing season. If you have pics, I'd love to see them. Like to see how it's installed and mounted, as well as how rigging and lines don't interfere with the bimini and dodger. Mark

They Are Easy To Make
I custom made mine using the tips from Don Casey's book on Canvas and Sail Repair. I bought the SS tubing and Sunbrella material from West Marine, built a tubing bender from plywood, and started laying it out the way I wanted it. That's what I saw too and know that I'll have to do with my O'Day 23 as well, re-rig the mainsheet to the cockpit somehow if I wanted a bimini top. I'm interested in knowing how to set that up. Mark

The main sheet remained as original, with the bimini stopping about 2" behind it, although on the 22 or 23 O'Day, it would need to be changed if it attached to the rear of the boat. My next project is to make a cover that will snap onto the front of the bimini, then tie down to the cabin top handrails, so I can leave the hatch open in a light rain at anchor.
