The boat that I just boat has what I assume is after-market davits. The bimini is secured with fixed tubing toward the stern where straps are usually used. Is this because of the davits? I'm trying to fold up the bimini with having to take it off.

Welcome Jason.

I believe the Bimini and dodger installs were done by the dealers at time of purchase, not originally by Beneteau, at least that’s how ours was done. So there may be some variation in install type even without the davits.
Having said that, ours does have straps to hold aft Bimini support back, so when we want to fold the Bimini we can unclip the straps and bring that support forward to the backstay.

Anything "after-market" or dealer installed is likely to vary widely by region. Pictures of the problem that you are looking at are worth a thousand word post. Something must be either pulling or bracing the legs (arms?) of the bimini to keep it taut. Our system uses a brace near the top. If you have no strap, and no brace, is there a friction/pressure clamp near the base? Or is it two separate "fixed" legs ?
