Bimini Installation

I want to install a bimini on my 78 Hunter 25. I only have 4-5 feet between the back stay and the main sheet (traveler at companionway) depending on height. Is there a practical solution and installation. Talyor makes a 4 foot long bimini but it's only 3 feet high. I have an idea of where I can install the brackets but I would like to know what the options are.

Check the archives

I think you will find some threads of this topic in the archives. People have attempted moving the bimini aft (on models that don’t have an aft stay), tipping the bimini slightly to miss the mainsheet and moving the main sheet attachment point on the boom forward. As I recall – most ended up not using the bimini while under sail.

Bimini for h25

Installed a 4'x6' bimini out of the box from boat us a couple years back. Set the feet into the toe rails, scrooched down the front so the boom would clear, and had to pierce the rag so that the backstay could pass through. This was the tallest bimini they had available, because I am 6'3" and I refused to crouch under it while sailing. I should tell you that I hate its looks, I swear it acts like a brake in light air, and I love it when we're anchored out because it seems to extend the living space in otherwise tight quarters. However, my admiral, who is a damned good sailor, insists on using it most of the year. Hope this helps. Jim
