I just installed one as well. I have the stern rail seats and it did not work where the instructions suggested. The folks at Ameriseam were helpful and interested in correcting the instructions. On mine the instructions placed it not far enough forward. Were I to do it again I would 1. Mark the topping lift with the sail up so that you can place the boom in the exact same positiion in the slip with the sail down. 2. With your two assistants unfold the top stretch it out and then mark where the holes should be drilled. 3. Fold it up and mark the holes 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you are satisfied. Without the seats the placement is probably not so critical. I have an extra pair of holes that I need to take care of because I just folled the enclosed instructions and did not check for myself. It works great now and is worth every penny. Good Luck
