I'm trying to deterimine the max size (height and lenght) for my Mac 25. I'm told a 6' will fit but it'll hang over the hatch making forward movement onto the deck difficult and 5 footers are too low. Should I get the 6 and shorten it?

BIMINI, I did that to my 26D
For my MAC 26D 1988 I ordered a Bimini 70in wide (It comes as a 69 to 72in range model) x 32in of height x 5 feet long. It clears the boom (I have a boom Kicker) I can also sail with it open with no problems. I cannot stand under it. It is perfect for shade for those sunny windless days and for the rainy days as well when I have to motor back home in the rain... It came with all the hardware, screws and instructions. It fits perfectly and took about 20 minutes to install. Friendly service at GMI top design with fast delivery. all colors available, A+++ quality compared to what I saw on other boats around me at the marina. with the US $$ value versus Canadian Dollard exchange rate, you should be in for a good deal ! .... on my 26S. I don't know if it will be the same on your 25, but I purchased it from Overton's. It is advertised as a "Ski Boat Bimini Top", and I got the 61"-66" wide 5' long one and it fits perfectly. You can't stand upright in it, but it clears the back stay and the main sheet and the boom with no modifications required. The link to the Overton's web site is below.

Go on the GMI site and select the quotation and order form on the left, then click on Low profile model. I ordered the 5 feet long, 30 to 36in. height, 67 to 72 in width. I choosed the Pacific Blue color #4601. I paid the equivalent of about $200.00 US (with the matching sunbrella boot for free) plus the usual $25.00 for shipping.
