I've finally decided that I need some shade on my boat and am considering a Bimini. I have a 336 with the mainsheet traveler mounted on the steering pedestal so a bimini that covers the entire cockpit is not an option. Has anyone had a good experience that would like give me some advice. There is a bimini on the Hunter Owner's Chandlery that's custom made for the 336 and covers the area aft of the pedestal-mainly just the helmsman's seat and the two stern seats for about $1000. Is this big enough? Has anyone else purchased this and what was your experience with it? I sail in Massachusetts in Buzzard's bay. Tom

A Worthwhile Addition

We had one made - great addition! We keep it up all the time (just went through 35 knot winds). It was one of the best investments we've made on the boat - and it cost me twice what the chandlery is asking (found Hunterowners too late). It provides plenty of shade and is high enough that it's easy to stand under it. Go for it, Tom. Ned and Tani Strain s/v Family Therapy 1995 h366 Chicago
