We are looking to put a bimini on this year but I have some concerns with the main sail being in the way. Can the bimini top be used when sailing? And what about headroom under the top? Does anyone have a suggested product to buy? Also, the motor mount is cracked and needs to be replaced. In addition, the transom is weak at the mount location. What can i do to strength the transom?

Try this...

Hunter developed a handsome half-bimini that puts you out of the sun but allows flexiblity to get around the well. Check out any 29.5 or 29 or 28, perhaps by looking at pix on this website. By all means the bimini can be used while sailing. It won't provide any damaging lift, for you'd have to be doing around 80 mph. If the motor mount is cracked wood, simply replace the wood. They're precut in West and Boat US catalogs. First have a nearby owner look at the mount for his or her opinion. The crack could be negligible. To shore up the mount, simply cut a piece of plywood for inside of the boat and use that as support by running longer bolts through.
