Thanks for posting your masthead problem on the Photo Forum Bill. This should be a wakeup call for anyone who has not checked their rigging. I can't climb so my mast is coming down when I haul her this winter. I'm wondering why your halyard is on a block and not through the mast and over a sheave? Did it get stuck and the previous owner chose the easy way out? I'd get the halyard properly strung and get rid of that block.

Exactly my sentiment, Ed

I want to get the halyard thru the mast. Don't trust the block apparatus. I'm going up the mast again in a couple of days, and plan to try to dig out the old halyard that's up there. Then feed a new halyard line up the mast with the pennant line you see in the snapshot. Hopefully not to tough to do. Think you're right about how the block got there.
