Mike,
Figured with a name like Rabalais you had to be from down here. Got a '79, 37' Hunter in Madisonville. Have 1...1500gph pump wired direct from breaker to pump for manual operation and the same pump wired from battery to level switch for auto mode.
Have 1...750gph wired from battery to level switch..... 1 pump in bilge aft of the keel, the other rests atop the keel . Have 1...500gph pump in the shower sump pan that also handles condensation from the A/C....this one pumps thru a forward thruhull.
See ya' on the lake when it clears up.

thanks for the reply, I found the shower pan pump in the bilge aft of the mast, I figured out what it was for finally, the other pump is located middle of the salon but is connected to the 115v plug near the galley bilge area. There is water down there and I have a new Rule 1100 auto pump arriving today. I plan to hook that up over the weekend and would like to connect it to the separate bilge switch below the main breaker panel. I will have to fish that connection to make it happen.
Great to hear from someone local, I bought a project boat and just starting to bring the boat back. Anyone you would recommend for engine work?

Mike,
Been doing most of my own engine stuff. Small 2QM20 Yanmar. But when I first got my "project" boat I had it hauled and replaced the shaft, strut, cutlass bearing, reglassed the stern tube and replaced the motor mounts and prop, took the hull down to the gelcoat and came back with three coats of ablative paint. All this stuff was done by Maritime Marine in Slidell. Located off Bayou Liberty. Paul Dumstorf and Miss Barbara. They do great work and stand behind it. I'm pretty satisfied.

Well, I am gonna replace the shaft, strut, I have pulled the rudder and ordered the new one, will rework the prop when it is pulled also, starting on the bottom this weekend, plan on taking it down to the original bottom as much as possible, then 2 coats of epoxy primer and at least 2 coats of ablative (sp) paint.

The boat is at Seabrook Marine, the only thing they don't do is engine work, I spoke with NorthShore Marine and they will come and take a look at it.

The boat was already there when I bought it. They are letting me work on the boat and I see others working on their boats also.
The waterway is closed at the junction with the lake, but I am sure you can get around that by going thru the Rigolets. It should be reopened by December as that is their project end date.

Hi, Mike here, I look forward to meeting the other owners on the website in time.

Where did you get your strut, I have seen much discussion here about struts and lack of vendors.

Should have said rebedded strut instead of replaced. It wasn't damaged.
BTW....I have been replacing a lot of the original teak on the boat with old growth stuff, not plantation teak. Cabin top rails, step pads, cabinet mouldings, trim. If you need a source let me know. The guys has a realllllly good price. Been sitting in a warehouse for 30 years.
