Does anyone know how to get to the bilge pump on an ericson 29? I can hear but it seems to be directly beneath the engine.

can you hear it now

I have a 74 29 (atomic 4). Mine came with a manual whale gusher bilge pump that is located in the port cargo compartment. It recently failed. I just went through a big evolution to find some reasonably priced parts to fix it up. I take it you have an automatic pump somewhere down there. Good luck. steve

That would be odd

That would be odd if the bilge pump was under the engine. The most likely place would be directly under the stairs. There is an opening there in my E29 that is about 10x10". Both the automatic float switch and the pump are deep in the keel, but can be reached by sticking your arm down in the hole. Pump out as much water as you can before looking for it, and use a flashlight. My manual pump, by the way, is in the aft locker behind the helms position. If you have a manual switch for the auto bilge pump perhaps (with a little effort) you could trace the wiring back to it.

found it

The intake for the bilge pump run under the engine into the bilge but must have been pulled up to far. I pulled it out completely and ran it into the bilge under the steps. Thanks for advice and info. I don't think i was notified that there was a reply to my post. isn't that automatic? maybe i missed it.

BILGE PUMP LOCATIONS

BILDGE PUMPS SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE LOWEST PART OF THE BILDGE. WITH A AUTO FLOT SWITCH. ON MY 74 ,THE MANUEL PUMP IS IN THE LAZERATE ON THE PORT SIDE OF THE COCPIT, THE SUCTION TUBE RUNS DOWN INTO THE BILDGE . THE AUTO PUMP IS IN THE FORWARD CABIN SOLE HATCH ALONG WITH A AUTO FLOT SWITCH.( I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND A SWITCH THAT HAS NO MOVEING PARTS THAT CAN JAM UP, AND CHECK IT OFTEN, FOR SCUM )
