Bilge pump

The Oceanis 281 I'm looking at doesn't have an automatic bilge pump. It has a switch on the electrical panel to engage the pump. My Hunter 26.5 has a similar floor except it has a short, narrow trough that is deep enough for an automatic switch for the bilge pump. Curious as to why this wasn't addressed on the 281.

my 323 did not have an auto bilge pump switch either. I installed a float switch in what little bilge there is and an on/auto/off switch at the nav station.

I looked at a First 28.whatever and it was notable how little bilge there was. I don't remember whether there was a sump or not but without it, it would be a challenge to de-water it.
