Bilge Pump Running

Just installed new bilge pump, Rule Mate 1100 GPH. Correctly wired to on/off switch and auto. Both the on and on switch and auto work fine except when I test the auto by putting water in the bilge, it comes on but sometimes will not shut off unless giggled.

Any thoughts?

Suggest hysteresis on the float switch adjustment - or some foreign object under float - or a sticky pivot on float.
i.e. water level raises float but when water is pumped out float does not sink to point where the switch operates and turns the pump off.
If possible disassemble switch enclosure and clean it out and try again.
As I am sure you realised it is important to make sure there is some latitude between switching off and dry bilge as you don't want it to run constantly whilst you are not aboard or it will flatten your batteries.
