I was just given a 85 Mac25. I dont know anything about sailing, but I do know water is not good inside the boat. Is there a Drain Plug? if so, where? Thank You All

Taking on water

I had an 80 where the hose going from the cockpit drain to the outside (in the back) came undone. I had to cut through a wall underneath to get to the hose and stick it back on. I couldnt find the clamp. These boats seem to get water in them when you sail - it must leak over the edges of the area that holds the swing keel or something. I bought a $10 pump and hooked it to the battery.

Possible solutions

My experience is that rain often fills the bilge as much as leakage. Make sure you have taken preventive measures, such as a tarp over the boom, etc. If you truly do have leakage, then you need to get it fixed. A moldy boat is not a happy boat. I have duel bilge pumps that drain to transom, but I have never used them. I hope I do not have to. I think a 500 gph pump can be purchased and installed cheaply and is a sound investment.
