I was working on my 77 h25 today and noticed the bilge pump line is not connected to anything. Where does it dump out of the boat? I have 2 drains for the cockpit, and one for the sink.(none seem to have a tee) I don't see any other thru hull openings, but it must go somewhere. The boat name fits--Again I'm Clewless. Pete

Bilge Pump

Pete, I have a '77 25 Hunter also. Mine didn't come with a bilge pump so I have added one in and spliced it into the output of my sink. Hope it helps! Email me directly if you wish, I would love to hear from other owners of my boat model. Steve

Potential siphon problem

I have a 1982 H25 without a bilge pump but plan on installing one soon. It seems to me if you tee the bilge pump discharge hose to the sink drain that there could be a problem with water siphoning back through the thru hull fitting, down the hose & out the pump intake as it passes by the fittings while underway on a port tack in my case. I would suggest the installation of a check valve to prevent backflow to the pump if you have not already done this.

Siphon break

I was going to point out the problem with the T in the sink hose too, but then got to thinking: The sink itself is open to the cabin, right? If the drain is open, it forms a perfect "vented loop"! Just make sure that the T in the sink's drain hose where you attach the bilge hose is ABOVE the waterline at all angles of heel. Oh yes, and don't close the drain, or the "vent" in your "loop" won't work! (Don't rely on a check valve to solve the siphon problem -- they aren't reliable enough for that.)

just do the logical-put new through hull fitting

I have a H25 1978 model. I am in the process right now of installing a pump/float combo in the bilge under the table (the lowest point) from there you can run your 3/4" (I assume) bilge hose directly to the either port or starboard (under the seats) then out towoards the stearn there I will drill a hole and install a through hull connection for the bilge hose (note: read: above water line...goes without saying. Just be sure to use the proper marine silicone before you tighten the throrgh hull fitting. Connect the hose and viola!
