Bilge plug

I've got a '07 M26 with a 40HP Suzuki. I get water in the bilge even with the hatches closed. I understand there are diverse places the water may be getting in during a rain storm, etc. Has anyone installed a bilge drain/plug through the transom much like most small power boats? The tricky part would be drilling through the transom so as not to violate the water ballast compartment; and not interfering with the engine mount. Anyone have the specs on the distance from the bottom of the transom to the top of the ballast compartment? I keep my boat on a lift with the bow tilted up slightly, so a drain would be a more convenient way to empty the bilge than manual or electrical pumps.

That would be about 3rd on my list...

1. Stop water from entering boat. (2) Failing No. 1, put in a bilge pump. I would not want to drill a drain hole through the hull below the water line.

Boat Plug

Drill from the inside. You won't screw up that way. A good threaded type screw in bronze plug should work fine. Don't forget to put it in when you launch, and carry spares. Should work fine.
