Hi:
How does the water get from the engine section to the main bilge in the center of the boat. From this past winter I have water under the engine that apears to be stationary. It appears that the only way that water gets to the bilge is from the right side of the head compartment. Do I need to put a bilge pump under the engine compartment?

If your boat is on the hard it may not be sitting correctly for the water to flow the way Oday intended.....one year the yard didn't block the my boat with an extra 3/4 inch board on the rear of my keel and had water standing in the center of the boat behind my engine and not flowing toward the keel bilge

Hey,

On my boat, there is a fiberglass pan under the engine that does not drain into the bilge. I think that is to prevent oil, coolant, an other fluids like that getting into the bilge. I keep one of those absorbent 'diaper' liners in there. Liquid spilled into the area around the engine does drain into the bilge.

Good luck,
Barry

I provided this same answer in another thread and it may be applicable to you as well.

I have an O28 and found similar problem with water not getting from under the engine to the bilge where it could be pumped out. I found that there was a small weep hole between the engine compartment and the bilge channel that sometimes gets plugged up. Look for the hole and stick a wire through to remove the debris. You should see the water lever go down immediately as it flows into the bilge.
