I replaced my bilge pump, as the old one died while I was testing it. After installing the indentical model, the bilge water came back out of the pump instead of out of the hose. The hose appears to be blocked. The manual pump works fine. What is a safe way to check the hose for blockage ?

The valve seems to be OK.......perhaps a bit stiff. Maybe after 10 years they stiffen up and have to be replaced. I will put a temporary connector in and see if the water pumps out; if so, the valve is at fault.
