I have just obtained insurance from Boat US and as a condition for underwriting am being required to fix disabled bilge blower on C36 with Universal diesel. Question: Are bilge blowers still offered on newer Catalina models? If not - I can use this as proof that it is not required for my 1985 - I still have CNG stove which also eliminates the issues common with propane.

Catalina 320 Dana Point
My '94 270 with a Perkins came with a blower

which I recently replaced. Everyone who has "inspected" the boat, (surveyor, couple different CG Aux. safety inspectors) has always said that it's not "required" for diesel.

Bilge Blower

My 2002 Catalina 310 (with a M25XPB Diesel) came from the factory with a bilge blower. So, yes, Catalina does still equip their new boats with bilge blowers.

USCG Says "Not Legally Required" for Diesel

I was just reading the legal requirements for boats. Ventillation is specified for gasoline powered boats only. However, just because there is no legal requirement for ventillation for a diesel powered boat, that doesn't mean that your insurance can't require it as a condition for insuring the boat. My 2002 C-320 has a blower. Hook yours up, or try to find some insurance company that doesn't care. Apparently, BoatUS Insurance does. Ateve C-320 Alchemist
