I have read a lot of threads on this problem of water in my 1985 H23. Hoses and fixtures definitely needs to be re-sealed but that I think the bigger problem is getting all the water out from under the cockpit. My boat does have a bilge pump but for the life of me I can't fid the suction point. I assume it's somewhere under the sole (maybe aft of the last keel bolts well). Also, I've read threads about drilling holes in the partitions to allow all the water to get the bilge. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.:Liar:

Go with gravity

Where is the lowest point? That's where the flow will go & the likely location of the pump. No doubt you'll get a better answer from other 23 owners, but at the end of the day, gravity rules.

Here's the thing: The lowest point in the hull is the cabin sole / keel bolts. There's not really much space for a bilge pump!! The water is living inside the stringers and flowing out through a weep hole in the aft keel bolt well. The best place to put a bilge pump would be to drill a hole in the floor (only the top skin!!!) back in that recess under the companionway step, and run a hose forward from that point a few feet, between the true hull and the fiberglass cabin sole.

I'll admit - i haven't done this! I have a bilge pump in the lazarette area. The inside is bailed by hand. I'm going work on the assumption that I just need to finish fixing the leaks into the cabin, rather than install a second bilge pump.
