I have an 83 S2 and cannot find any access port to the bilge. I have check every storage locker and find nothing. The deck appears to be the original. I can only get to a possible entrance by going into the engine compartment.

I checked the packing nut on my drive shaft last week and it was dripping about 1 drop per minute with the motor off. This weekend I checked and it was dripping at a rate of 2 drops per second. Needless to say I was found water in the bilge access in the engine compartment.

This bilge access is not the bottom of the bilge. The hull slopes down further from this point.

We were able to pump out quite a bit of water and in fact very surprise at the volume.

I want to install an automatic bilge pump but the access from the engine compartment is too small. What have other S2 owners experience?

dont know about the 8.5 ....but my 9.2 has 6x6 hole in the sole under the front of the engine and a little right of center ...if you have a hole there...then get you a bilge pump that will fit through that hole and hook it up with the hoses and electrical wireing .....mount the bottom screen to a L shaped bracket with a very long leg on one side of the L and set in down in and fasten it off at the top so as to keep it down in the bottom ...you can make a L bracket out of a flat bar about 1 inch wide and bend the short leg to a lingth of about 4 or 5 inches...use aluminium or stainless ...stainless would be best if you can find some......

My bilge pump is mounted to a long length of wood that drops it down in front of the engine. There are two bolts that pass through the wood and it is secured with wing nuts. The only bilge access I have is under / in the engine compartment.
