today I moved my boat....the first time this year....
all went well and I put the boat back on the dock and plugged into 30amp shore power.....as I was leaving, i decided to flick the auto matic bildg swicth to here the pump come on................it didnt.

the only thing i belive i did different was I had the battery selector off.......
when I turned the batttery selector to ALL.....it worked fine....when it was on battery 2.....it would not work
battery 1..... it would not work

when plugged into shower power...should I leave my battery selector in the all position

Most folks wire the bilge pump to one bank and wire it from the hot side of the switch. usually there is a separate wire going there for it.. There usually is a fuse to protect the circuit to the pump .. That way you can leave the batt switch off and the bilge pump is on when needed.. It is good to have the batt switch off when you are gone because there are many reported cases where the starter pushbutton switch shorts from rain or whatever and runs the starter motor until the magic smoke comes out.. If you are lucky, nothing else burns.

It sounds like this is the first time you experienced the problem. Anything change in the wiring from previous season(s)?

Yes the bilge pump should be hard wired directly to one of the battery banks. Do you have power to the rest of the boat in both #1 and #2 positions? Check the connections at the switch and make sure they are clean and tight and that the switch contacts are operating properly.
