I was reading the archives and you suggested to someone a few years ago to get a permanently mounted port o pottie in lieu of the traditional head. Please be more specific. The vent you talk about, are you suggesting thru the deck? Also the pump out thru deck? I am very interested and would like some kind advice. Would a composter like the Airhead work on a small boat like the 25?

Check out Thetford Marine Heads

Our775 MSD unit is permanently affixed, allows over 60 flushes, pumps out through the deck waste fitting, breathes though the air vent line, and works perfectly with no odours. Thetford Corporation is both in the USA and in Canada. In Canada, your head must be permanently fixed to be legal.

Portipotti

I put a permanent mount portipotti in my H260 and was very happy with it. I used the Sealand 5 gal model. The vent is on the side of the hull next to the bilge thru hull and the pumpout is on the rear of the deck. It probably holds about as many uses as a 12-15 gal holding tank due to less water usage and has no below the waterline openings.

Jim and Don have answered portapotty question...

As for whether the Airhead (or any composter) woudl be a good choice for a small boat...it requires power 24/7 to run the evaporator and heater, it's doubtful that it would be good choice for any boat that isn't kept in a slip and always on shore power to keep the battery charged.

Location of pipe exits.

The pump-out fixture is a standard stainless model mounted flush in the deck over the potty. The vent exhausts in a fixture in the side just below the toerail. David Lady Lillie (a '77 h27)

thanks, could I do it myself?

Any reason why a guy who's not great with DIY couldn't do this?
