I had to build a big bed for our 80 27 as I could not get a good nights sleep in the vee berth. I'm not the first to attempt this but I think my method might be a little unique. Instead of using hooks on the ends of stringer/supports to bridge the setees, I replaced the two wooden rails that hold the cushions from falling of with thicker rails that extend lower (along the face of the settee). I then routed pockets for the stringers to rest in. This makes for a more secure stringer. This also eliminates the metal hooks chewing up the wooden rail. If you have questions e-mail me (I don't visit the HOW very often). donaldbodemann@att.net PS I love my new bed!!
