I just repowered with a Beta 35 and the Seaprop saildrive. I decided to see what it takes to change oil in the saildrive with the boat afloat. The manual gives a procedure to pressurize with a pump and two procedures to extract via suction..problem is I cant see how either would work and the manual is very very poorly worded (translated). Betamarine West has no info as they say they do not deal with many saildrives. So they sent my questions to Beta UK. All they did was send back a screen shot of the manual with no answers to my specific questions. I have not tried to communicate with Beta NC. So, does anybody here have this saildrive that may be able to help?

Looks like it comes out of that Upper Drain Plug which probably has a tube down to the bottom gear case of the leg.. either suction pump attached to the upper drain or pressure through the dipstick to force the oil out the upper drain. Sounds like some fittings are necessary to thread either into the oil dipstick hole to pressure oil out or thread into the upper drain hole to suction it out..

If there is a tube, then it can make sense. Usually, when I pull a drain plug, I expect something to “drain” out. Imagine combining an installation manual with a maintenence schedule...we did not use this manual as we totally reused the current engine and saildrive mounts. Have to admit this manual is a little better written, however, the maintenence schedule here is totally different than whats stated in the saildrive manual..Guess I”ll just have to get some fittings and try it... out

I would not hesitate to call Beta in North Carolina. I recently purchased a 43 from them. Spent a year talking and learning from Stanley and Farron. Great guys and have a wealth of knowledge.
