I spent some time studying the electrical wiring diagrams in both
the Beta Manual, the Volvo Manual and the original Vega Wiring
diagrams. I was trying to learn what can be taken out from the old
installation since it was not nicely bundled like the new panel.
It looks like the volvo used a starter/generator combo to charge the
starting battery, and the alternator to charge the house battery.
The Beta only has an alternator for chargingand that charges the
starting battery but will not be charging the house battery without
ading some new switch arrangement.
Also the Volvo had an external regulator. I'm assuming the beta has
an internal regulator in the alternator.
Can any one confirm these assumptions?
