Beta 10 Exhaust System

Hi All,
Time to call on your experiance's/expertise again!

I am in the process of a beta re-fit from the old gas combi, im sure this will not be my last ask for advice but for now it is this.

I need to route a new wet exhaust system which in itself is not difficult but the injection bend from the engine is 50mm O/D and my old system was 40mm,so my transom skin fitting is 40mm O/D. According to the beta installation manual it should be run in 50mm, but i have read a few re-fit articles (bluemoment.com being one) and i see that they have kept a 40mm system.

So is there a reducer i can fit to the injection bend to take it down to 40mm or do i put in a new skin fitting and run it in 50mm ?

Your thoughts comments and experiances are invaluable

regards

Scott,

I also changed my system to 2 inch or 50 mm. Beta sells an excellent water
lift muffler and also a really great goose neck for the stern that
eliminates the loop in the hose. And, I should have mentioned, a great
through hull exhaust fitting that is actually rubber with a metal ring.
Everything just plugs together then and there is no adapting. But it will
set you back a few hundred dollars. I believe Beta does sell a 40 mm engine
fitting though.

By the way, I couldn't get the nut off the old hull fitting but found that a
two inch hole saw just fit right over the entire old fitting. So I chucked
it into my portable drill (without the guide bit) and cut it right out.
The only hard thing is that I did it in the water -- leaning over the
transom holding the drill wasn't all that easy on an old body. I made sure
it was a very calm day as the fitting is just above the waterline.

Hi Scott

You can either use 50mm exhaust pipe and fittings or get the 40mm Beta Exhaust manifold. Easiest if you already have teh Beta is to use 50mm pipe and fittings.

Cheers

I changed out the skin fitting to 2" or 50mm, but you can probably rig up some kind of reducer. -Tim

Scott,

If you decide to go this route let me know and I can same you a bunch of
time. It isn't rocket science, but it did take me a little time to figure
out exactly how to make it all work. Once the light came on in my dim wit,
the actual job took only a couple hours of actual work.
