O Day Mariner 2+2 my driveway/ Lake Wallenpalpac
I had thought of moving up to a bigger boat or at least one with more, "creature comforts" than my PT.
But the more time I spend on her, the more I like her (and I guess after 3 failed Ebay and a few other "boat for sale sites"), I may be the only one who does.
So I got to looking at her and figuring this winter "projects"
The list grows.................
I'd like to make/add some storage, make the "proper bed"
Low and behold I finally got ot read issue #83 of "Good Oldboat".
On page 24/25 a couple made a Oday 23 into a "long time on board boat"
The guy did pretty much what I had in mind, so I have a better idea of the hows.
He had made a set of shelves behind the seats and at the V berth.
"I can do that"!
But what is the best way to attach these to the hull????
He had insulated and carpeted the hull, what would be the best way to glue the insulation on? Must be sheet foam insulation.
The first 2 pics are of the mag and how it looked, the last being my hull looking to the V berth. Now there's a storage area under the platform and a small storage area in front.
Thanks!
Joe

Go to the sailrite.com site. Under their instructional videos is a very nice demonstration for installation of headliner material on the hull. The results look really nice.
I'm not certain about the shelves. I'm at work now, so I don't have a copy of the magazine, but I think there is a index in Good Old Boats which has contact information for many of the article authors. Maybe you can go to the source.

Hi Joe,

Some of the attachment points could be blocks of wood/plywood held to the hull with epoxy. Additional strength could be added by putting strips of fiberglass over the wood and out onto the hull. The West System six/ten is a nice consistancy that will not run as you attach the blocks of wood to the hull.

Check out this WWP 19, the guy did a really nice job and added a ton of storage http://wwp19.home.comcast.net/~wwp19/port.html
My interior needs some improvement too and I'm thinking of doing something like this if it fits my boat.
I had intended to add shelves at the settees by tabbing plywood shelves to the hull with FG tape and epoxy with the forward end screwed in the existing galley bulkhead and making a verticle support at the aft end which will attach by screwing into the overhead liner. I think I can get the hull profile byusing a piece of that blue insulation foam and marking the curve from outside the hull, at the toerail.

thanks!
I HAD orginally thought once my slip rental is up (Oct. 1), I rent a mooring bouy or ??? til it became apparent that the sailing season was over and then pull "Fever Dream" out.
But, now me thinks I use the warm early fall days to start this interior project.
I thought about expoxy a piece to the hull, bit thought it might not stand the weight, if there was ant flexing.
Looking at the article of the West Potter, maybe I gut the entire interior!

See this is how it goes. A seed is planted..............................
