It all depends on what you're using it for. If it's for an outboard and you're also using it for lights and other 12v long term loads, then a deep cylce is the right choice. Lack of any other information from your OP doesn't help us help you much. Please fill in the details. Thanks.

Batteries that are optimized for delivering a large amount of current over short periods of time are only needed for power-boat type of engines that are very large and that have starters requiring very large currents. The kind of engines found on sailboats do just fine being started with deep-cycle batteries. My 62 hp perkins starts just fine with a deep-cycle battery. I prefer deep cycle batteries over automotive type batteries because they have more lead in them and also allow me to parallel the start battery with the house banks during emergencies.

Thanks so much, I have two batteries aboard, this one I use for starting 1GM Diesel and the other runs electric lights etc. Thanks again!

Always keep in mind that your "starting" battery may or could be called into duty some day as a house battery. Always better to have a deep cycle than a thin plate starter when your starting battery also can serve as a "reserve" battery. A lawn & garden tractor battery or PWC battery will start a 1GM so any group 24, 27 or 31 deep cycle would be a great battery for that purpose and start it with ease.
