Best place to dismast and remast on Hudson river

We are planning to reach the Champlain Lake by the Hudson canal and we would like to know the best place to dismast and remast. How long does it takes in average to reach the canal from the Hudson river and to cross the canal to reach Champlain Lake. Thank you in advance, Estelle

Although I have wanted to make this trip, I know a lot of people from my marina have. Everyone seems to stop in Rondout NY, (Kingston) You might want to start with Rondout Yacht Basin.

Hop-o-Nose Marina in Catskill is the most popular marina for lowering and raising the mast after/or before a trip through the canal. They are very experienced and practically no criticisms. Good luck.
