Hi,
We have a Hunter356 2002..Our dinghy has a 5hp engine. We have forspar nova davit system for our dingy. We have found lifting the engine off and on to dinghy is hard for us. We would like to purchase some sort of lift and are looking for suggestions on what might be available. We do not want to leave engine on dinghy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,
Lauri

Lauri, I have a 6:1 tackle on our starboard davit and use that to lift the motor (6hp, 4 stroke) on and off the dinghy. Once it is up high and over the stern of the 356 I can lift it on to the storage bracket. For protected sailing we leave the motor on the dinghy.

garhauer makes a great engine hoist, reasonably priced. We have one on our 356 mounted to stbd of the aft locker. hoist the outboard up to the pushpit rail and drop it onto the mount

There was recently a huge discussion about this. If you search threads you may find it. There was some great info discussed and photos.

Thank you for the suggestions..We are looking in the Garhauer now..Some have told us just to leave engine on the dinghy all the time..We are a little hesitant on this..My husband has a bad back and even though I can be a big help, I think having a hoist that really assists is the best option..We are on a mooring many times when away and having a hoist would certainly be a benefit..
