My 10 year old Signet SL30 seems to have given up and I want to replace it with another combination unit. Anyone with any advice on which units are great and which ones to stay away from? One of the marine suppliers indicated that they have found all boat electronics have a high failure/fault rate and don't recommend any of them. What are you experiences?

B&G

B&G makes good instruments, although I personally think they are grossly overpriced. Any system is vulnerable to failure if not installed and maintained properly. You have to keep the water away from these things, and sometimes that is very hard to do.. MC

Depth,speed,water temp., and entertainment!

My Raytheon L365 fish-finder works great and gives me depth (to the 1/2ft.),speed, water temp., and a liquid crystal screen to watch fish and the bottom profile on. The thru-hull transducer fit through the existing hole. I was able to mount it up on the steering pedastal where my original SR Mariner unit was located.Looks great, works great !!!

Standard

I've always had good luck with Standard. They make a combo unit but I went with individual speed and depth because they have a larger display. They are mounted on my cabin bulkhead and I can see them better that way. BTW, They replaced my Signet SL80, which lasted 10 years.
